At least two masked males who shot up La Sala restaurant fled the scene of the crime at about 12:30 local time on what police are calling a high-powered motorcycle. No one was hurt. The hunt for the shooters is ongoing.
A popular stop for British visitors, the restaurant in posh Puerto Banus, close to Marbella, was shot up with at least five bullets, the windows almost all destroyed. Ex-footballers, including Stephen Carr (Tottenham, Newcastle, and Birmingham) and David Bentley, are supposedly shareholders behind the establishment.
According to its website, if you’re looking for live music, vocalists, or DJs any time of day or night, go no further than Sala Group Holdings’ flagship venue, La Sala. The restaurant has featured live music, singers, and DJs every day of the week and all day on Sundays since it debuted in 2010.
Sala Group chairman Ian Radford was a professional squash player before relocating to Marbella and starting a sports tourism company.
A guy who jumped out of a car and ran away in the same vehicle shot and wounded a man on February 10 in Nueva Andalucia, a residential area behind Puerto Banus. The victim was taken to the hospital in a gurney following the incident. Both his arm and leg were hurt.
No evidence has been found to connect the prior event with today’s shooting.
An armed robber suddenly materialized in July of last year and opened fire on a Puerto Banus restaurant, causing patrons to duck for shelter.
Two individuals, including what seemed to be a man armed with a submachine gun, were reportedly being sought after by the police after the dramatic episode.
It is believed that the gunman jumped out of a car his accomplice was driving just before the two bare-chested males, who appeared to be tourists, made a break for it just before the shooting began. According to accounts from the area, three gunshots were heard.
The incident took place in broad daylight on July 18, 2018, at around 6 p.m., close to the Cristamar shopping center in Puerto Banus.
