Matelita “Marty” Jackson, a well-known youth activist in Seattle, has been arrested on federal charges of money laundering, shaking the community and local government. Jackson, the executive director of the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of King County SE Network SafetyNet Program, has been a prominent figure in advocating for alternative pathways to steer young people away from gang culture and gun violence. However, federal investigators allege that she has been involved in a large-scale fentanyl trafficking ring, operated primarily by her family.

Jackson, alongside her family, is accused of distributing more than 800,000 fentanyl pills across several states, including Washington, Arizona, Texas, Missouri, and Georgia. According to federal authorities, the ring targeted vulnerable communities, including the Lummi Nation, where four people died from fentanyl overdoses within four days. The two-year investigation, led by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Seattle Police Department, and the FBI, uncovered a substantial amount of evidence, including 850,000 fentanyl pills, nearly seven kilograms of fentanyl powder, and 29 firearms in the Jackson family home.
The Jackson family’s alleged involvement in the fentanyl trade shocked city officials, especially considering Marty Jackson’s role in advocating for community safety. She has been described by federal agents as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” given her public persona as an anti-violence advocate. Jackson has now pleaded not guilty to the charges and is out on bond while authorities continue searching for her stepson, Markell Jackson, another key figure in the drug ring.
Jackson’s arrest has led to swift action from the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of King County, which launched an internal investigation and took corrective measures to ensure the safety of its members. Seattle Public Schools also halted any plans with Jackson’s SE Network SafetyNet Program until more information is made available.
The case has garnered significant attention, given the scale of the alleged drug trafficking operation and Jackson’s standing in the community.
Why are we allowing fentanyl to pour into the United States and ruin young lives…and kill thousands of Americans?
