Vladimir Putin Photo Appears Doctored

(PresidentialHill.com)- An image allegedly showing Russian President Vladimir Putin watching a newscast about Pakistan’s by-election cropped up on Facebook last week, but the image is doctored.

The real photo was from a January 2022 teleconference of Putin speaking with Italian business executives who appeared on a television in front of him.

Someone Photoshopped the image to make it appear that Putin was watching a newscast on the opposition party’s victory in Pakistan’s by-election on July 17.

The doctored image included a caption written in Urdu that claimed Putin was “expressing his satisfaction over the victory of Imran Khan” and that Putin “declared Imran Khan a wonderful personality.”

So it isn’t just Americans that Photoshop images. The Pakistanis do it too.

Good to know.

Now, the doctored image didn’t exactly light the internet on fire. It was shared less than a thousand times on Facebook.

Even so, there were Facebook users who believed the picture was genuine, with people writing in the replies to express their thanks and praise that Putin supports Imran Khan.

But as PT Barnum famously said, there’s a sucker born every minute. And some of them are born in Pakistan.

Okay, he didn’t say that second part.

The original picture, taken by the Kremlin on January 26, 2022, was published on the EURACTIV website on January 26 and included the caption “Russian President Vladimir Putin speaks online to representatives of Italian firms.”
