TV Actor Brian McCardie Dies of Rare Heart Condition

Famous UK actor Brian McCardie suddenly passed away this April at the age of 59. The actor’s sudden passing was announced via the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, by his actress sister Sarah McCardie. McCardie’s cause of death was revealed as an aortic dissection, which is the process by which a weak major heart artery wall tears open. McCardie’s sister revealed to fans that the beloved actor’s death was sudden, but painless, as he succumbed to his ailments at his home.

Brian McCardie was born in January of 1965, in Glasgow, Scotland. He was best known for his role as the antagonist role of underworld boss John Thomas Hunter in the hit UK police drama called Line of Duty. McCardie’s acting career spanned 35 years, with the actor starring in major UK films such as police thriller ‘Filth’, and the cult classic 1996 film ‘Trainspotting’ alongside Ewan McGregor. McCardie also starred in several TV series such as the 2021 BBC drama ‘Time’.

Sarah McCardie took to X to thank all friends and fans for their support during the McCardie family’s difficult time, describing her brother as a beloved son, brother, and friend. Sarah McCardie stated that her brother’s sudden passing was, “much too soon”. Brian McCardie passed away in his hometown of Glasgow on April 28th, 2024. Following her gratitude, Sarah McCardie announced the funeral arrangements for her late brother, stating that a funeral mass would be held on May 23rd at St. Mary’s Church in Lanark, Scotland.

McCardie’s agency, United Agents, took to social media to announce their grief for the star actor. The agency stated that they are deeply saddened by the tragic loss. Fans of McCardie expressed their sadness on social media by claiming how much they loved and supported him, as well as being so saddened by his passing. Others reflected on McCardie’s life describing him as a “brilliant guy” and paid tribute.
