The current state of affairs within the domestic United States, in fiscal, political, and social terms, are extremely volatile. Indeed, the former 45th president of the United States Donald Trump continues to be the Republican nominee for the presidency and appears locked in as the GOP torchbearer with less than two calendar months remaining until the national convention. At the same time, the incumbent president Joe Biden is quite vulnerable in the Democratic party. After appearing incompetent and cognitively impaired on the debate stage on June 27th, many Democrats have called for the president to step down. Despite these claims, it remains unlikely that Biden will step aside; only a few months remain until the election, and Biden already possesses the delegates required from the primary process to secure the party nomination.
Ultimately, the future of American politics is uncertain. Most polls forecast a very close race, with Trump and Biden routinely separated by only a few points in the polls. The former 45th president Trump does appear to have narrow leads in several crucial swing states like Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and others. Still, it is unlikely that the true direction of the race will be known until election day itself. The contest will likely be decided by a very small group of voters. Both Biden and Trump are immensely unpopular, and both are looked upon unfavorably by large numbers of Americans.
Donald Trump tarnished his already spotty reputation in 2020 when he claimed that the election was stolen. After January 6ths incidents at the capital, many of his supporters present were charged with crimes and placed in prison. Trump recently made a claim that many of these individuals would soon be released. The Supreme Court recently ruled that a federal charge pertaining to the obstruction of a proceeding must include proof that the person charged actually attempted to phyiscally alter documentation to be charged. This will affect many imprisoned.
