Trump Lawyer Distances From Tate After Initial Support
Alina Habba, a prominent legal representative for President Donald Trump, is walking back her previous support for controversial influencer Andrew Tate. The lawyer had initially expressed admiration for Tate during an appearance on “The Benny Show,” where she called herself a “big fan” of the controversial figure.
Habba’s pseudo-reversal, in which she didn’t actually condemn Tate, comes amid mounting legal troubles for Tate and his brother, both of whom face serious accusations including sex trafficking. Her retraction follows significant backlash from conservative commentators who questioned the wisdom of associating with Tate given the nature of the allegations against him.
Serious Accusations Lead To Clarification
In her clarified position, Habba described the accusations against Tate and his brother Tristan as deeply troubling. “The accusations against the Tate brothers are stomach-churning, they are disturbing. That is for the court to handle, and they should handle it,” Habba stated.
Habba had previously drawn parallels between Tate’s legal battles and those of President Trump, suggesting both men were unfairly targeted. Her initial comments included praise for Tate’s outspoken nature, telling him, “I think that your anger is the same that President Trump has for our country, and the time is now for us to stop being wimps.”
Conservative Backlash And New Investigations
Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro was among the conservative voices criticizing Habba’s initial support of Tate. Shapiro said bluntly about Tate, “In the end, what he really is, is a con artist. And he’s actually kind of an evil con artist.”
The Tate brothers recently returned to the United States after Romanian authorities lifted travel restrictions against them. Their legal troubles continue to mount as Florida has now opened a criminal investigation into the brothers, adding to their existing legal challenges.
The controversy highlights growing divisions within conservative circles about which figures should be embraced or rejected based on their character and actions. Conservatives who support Tate may soon be faced with difficult decisions as lawsuits close in on the man. But we’ll have to wait and see just how those pan out, first.
