Authorities in South Carolina are searching for three inmates who escaped from the Chesterfield County Detention Center on Monday night. The jailbreak was not discovered until correctional officers conducted a headcount early Tuesday morning, giving the escapees a five-to-six-hour head start, according to Sheriff Cambo Streater.

The four escapees, identified as Emanuel Robson Planco, Anton Conway Bennett, Kyonne Marquise McLeod, and De’Shawn Malik Fox, reportedly kicked down a steel door to make their escape around 11:00 p.m. on Monday. Planco was arrested two days later, after Richland County deputies responded to reports of car break-ins in Columbia, about 80 miles from the jail.

Planco was spotted by a K-9 unit breaking into a Kia. Deputies deployed stop sticks to halt the stolen vehicle, and Planco fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by a K-9 officer. Following his arrest, investigators learned that Planco had also attempted to break into a home earlier that day, with the homeowner firing a warning shot to scare him off. He then allegedly broke into several cars, stealing a PlayStation 4, credit cards, and IDs.

Planco now faces multiple charges, including grand larceny, first-degree burglary, and possession of a stolen vehicle. He awaits additional charges for the jailbreak.

Meanwhile, Bennett, McLeod, and Fox remain at large. Sheriff Streater expressed confidence that the remaining escapees will be apprehended, despite staffing shortages at the detention center, where only five officers are responsible for overseeing 130 inmates.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the three fugitives is urged to contact the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 843-287-0235. The investigation remains ongoing, with no further details released at this time.
