(PresidentialHill.com)- After former Vice President Mike Pence praised the FBI during the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Florida home last week, right-wing strategist and podcaster Steve Bannon slammed Pence.
Following the August 8 search warrant execution at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort residence, some GOP senators have called for defunding or abolishing the FBI. Pence encouraged his fellow Republicans to halt this in New Hampshire on Wednesday.
According to Pence, attempts to defund the FBI are as wrong as calls to defund the police. “Our party stands with the men and women who stand on the thin blue line at the federal, state, and local level, and these attacks on the FBI must end,” Pence said.
Bannon said Pence, who lacks guts, has harmed this nation more than any other person in recent political history.
Bannon shared the video on Gettr with the description, “Mike Pence is Controlled Opposition.
In a Wednesday episode of his War Room podcast, Bannon slammed Pence, who served as the president of Trump’s 2016 campaign and as a White House adviser for much of 2017. He called the former No. 2 official in the Trump administration “gutless,” “mindless,” and a “symp.”
Although many Republicans view Trump as the undisputed front-runner for their party’s nomination, Pence is widely believed to be laying the groundwork for a 2024 presidential bid. In recent months, Pence has increasingly broken with Trump in public—with his remarks about the FBI this week seen by many as another rebuke of his former boss.
Since the raid, Trump has constantly criticized federal law enforcement and accused them of corruption.
Sunday, he said on Truth Social, “The FBI has a lengthy history of corruption.”
Since January 6, 2021, when Pence refused to reject the Electoral College votes of six swing states, Bannon and other Trump allies have vilified him.
When pro-Trump protestors swarmed the Capitol later that day, Pence received death threats and hid in a loading dock.
Bannon stated in February that Pence’s condemnation of the January 6 protests was shameful. He called Pence a coward.
Bannon branded Pence “Judas Pence” in June, referring to the biblical follower of Jesus Christ who betrayed him before his execution.
Like Pence on Wednesday, several prominent Republicans have opposed cutting the funding of the FBI.
