Ron DeSantis Bans Private Money From Funnelling To Elections

( Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a new election integrity measure into law in a signing ceremony held on Monday.

In the words of the governor’s office, Senate Bill 524 will strengthen election security measures by requiring voter rolls to be reviewed and updated on an annual basis, strengthening identification requirements, establishing the Office of Election Crimes and Security to investigate election law violations, and increasing penalties for violations of election laws.

In a statement, Governor Ron DeSantis stated that twenty years ago, no one believed Florida was a prime example of how to handle elections, but we have emerged as a national leader by conducting the safest elections in the country. To protect the integrity of our elections, we must do more. In addition to banning Zuckerbucks and ballot harvesting, we have also outlawed drop boxes and mass mailing of ballots. This bill will provide more tools to ensure that criminal actors are held responsible.

They are called “Zuckerbucks” after the more than $400 million Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Sheryl, spent in crucial voting districts in 2020 under the pretense of raising voter turnout while ensuring safe voting thanks to COVID.

A private gift for any form of expense linked to election administration, such as voter education, voter outreach, voter or registration programs, or the cost of any litigation related to election administration, is expressly prohibited by law.

As noted in a report written by economist William Doyle, money from the Zuckerberg-linked Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL) and The Center for Election Innovation and Research (CEIR) “created a high-powered, concierge-like get out the vote effort for Biden that took place within the election system, rather than attempting to influence it from the outside.”

William Doyle said in his article that “We refer to this as the injection of structural bias into the 2020 election. Our study suggests that it most certainly generated enough more votes for Biden to achieve an Electoral College victory in 2020.”
