Rand Paul Calls Current GOP Leaders “Emasculated”

(PresidentialHill.com)- Senator Rand Paul criticized the omnibus bill that is over 4,000 pages and called GOP leaders emasculated for failing to stand up to Democrats. Paul reportedly made the comments while speaking on Fox News ahead of the vote.

Congress recently released the $1.7 trillion spending bill earlier this week, giving lawmakers just a couple of days to read all 4,155 pages and vote on it to get it on President Biden’s desk before the government shut down on Friday, according to American Pigeon.

The bill would reportedly fund the government through September 2023 and support domestic and military spending. Some of the provisions included in the bill have been starkly criticized by conservatives, who took to social media to highlight some of the most egregious spendings.

“If 41 of us said no and held our ground until there was a compromise, we could force Democrats to reduce spending,” Senator Paul said, adding that Republicans have given up their financial power and responsibility.

“Republicans are emasculated. They have no power, and they are unwilling to gain that power back,” he continued, noting that Democrats do not care about being “fiscally conservative” or how much spending the government is doing. He mocked Republicans’ claims that they care about the debt when they are unwilling to do anything to stop needless spending.

Some provisions in the bill include another $45 billion in aid to Ukraine; $1.43 billion for membership in “global multilateral organizations”; $47 billion for the National Institutes of Health; and $76 billion more in military spending.

What is not included in the bill is an extension of child tax credits for American families or money for the security of the southern border. But countries like Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman will receive $410 million for their border security.

“Balancing the budget, how hard would it be?” Paul asked, adding that if 2019’s budget was passed today, then it would be balanced.
