White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre lashed out at Fox reporter Peter Doocy after he accused her of helping to incite violence against former President Donald Trump. At a recent press event, Doocy asked Jean-Pierre “how many more assassination attempts” it would take for her to stop referring to Trump as a threat to democracy.
Ms. Jean-Pierre told Doocy she disagreed with the “premise” of his question and insisted that President Biden had consistently and repeatedly condemned political violence. She also declared that Democrats’ comments on January 6, for example, were all factual and could not be denied because people may try to harm Mr. Trump.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, called on Democrats to stop telling voters that Donald Trump will destroy democracy. He said the difference between liberals and conservatives is that conservatives have not tried to kill Kamala Harris or Joe Biden. “I’d say that’s pretty strong evidence that the left needs to tone down the rhetoric,” Vance added. The Senator vowed to do his part to dial down the heated verbal exchanges.
Meanwhile, critics hit back, saying Donald Trump routinely describes Vice President Harris as a communist, a fascist, and a Marxist who will decimate America. He has repeatedly told voters that America will cease to exist if Harris wins the election and has published images of her – generated by artificial intelligence – speaking at arenas adorned with the hammer and sickle symbol of communist rule.
In response to Vance’s remarks, Whoopi Goldberg hit back on The View and said the Senator had “clearly not been” to his “boss’s rallies.” Goldberg said Trump “has been inciting violence since 2016” and Vance should “take a look in the mirror.”
The row followed a second attempt on Donald Trump’s life as he played golf in Florida. Secret Service agents spotted a rifle peeking through a hedge near the former President and opened fire while Trump was hauled away in a golf cart. The alleged assailant fled the scene but was arrested soon afterward. Governor Ron DeSantis said Florida law enforcement agents, rather than the FBI, will investigate the incident because the federal agency is busily “persecuting” the former President.
