Oasis Star Liam Gallagher Installs Pool Despite Outraged Neighbors

Liam Gallagher has had his plans for a new swimming pool at his £4 million mansion in Highgate, North London, approved, despite objections from his neighbors. The former Oasis frontman, 51, stirred controversy after seeking permission to build a swimming pool, high-security walls, and gates at his luxury home.

Local residents, represented by the Highgate Society, raised concerns over the potential environmental impact, specifically the diversion of groundwater, which they feared could set a “most unfortunate precedent.” However, their objections did not stop Haringey Council from granting Gallagher planning permission for the project.

Now, Gallagher can move forward with the construction of the 24ft by 12ft pool, which will include a cover system, “bullnosed edge” detailing, and buff natural stone steps. The plans also feature a pool plant, air source heat pump, patio, and new landscaping elements such as a gravel drive and natural stone paving. Luxury outdoor furniture, including daybeds, loungers, and seating from the Hadley Rose Barcelona range, will be installed, with some pieces costing upwards of £2,000. Gallagher is also adding a premium Gozney Dome Pizza Oven, retailing at £1,800.

The development, listed under the name of Gallagher’s fiancée Debbie Gwyther, must begin within three years in accordance with planning conditions set by the council.

Gallagher, who moved into the property with Gwyther earlier this year, is unlikely to face financial constraints in completing the project, especially following the announcement of an Oasis reunion tour. The tour is expected to gross around £400 million, with Gallagher and his brother Noel set to earn over £50 million each from the initial 14 tour dates, including major shows at Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park.

This is not the first time Gallagher has found himself at odds with neighbors. Last year, he reportedly clashed with residents at his Cotswolds property over overhanging trees, which were under a preservation order. The musician was forced to pay to have the trees trimmed but had to seek council approval before carrying out the work.

Despite the local pushback, Gallagher will now be able to move ahead with his luxurious garden project, much to the dismay of some neighbors.

Gallagher presumably doesn’t care what people think of him…
