New Poll Shows Biden Leading Trump

(PresidentialHill.com)- According to a Yahoo News/YouGov poll released last week, while only 22 percent of respondents want President Joe Biden to run again in 2024, Biden still tops former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical match-up.

Respondents chose Biden over Trump 43 percent to 40 percent while 17 percent were undecided.

But when asked if President Biden should run again in 2024, the majority, 59 percent, said no while only 22 percent said yes.

YouGov also asked if respondents wanted to see Trump run in 2024. Likewise, the majority, 58 percent, said no while only 28 percent said yes.

On the outside chance Biden does run again in 2024, YouGov asked Democrat voters if they would choose Biden as their nominee or if they would prefer someone else. Only 35 percent of respondents said they would want Biden to be the nominee while 42 percent wanted someone else and another 23 percent couldn’t decide.

YouGov then asked the same question about Trump to Republican voters. The majority, 55 percent, said they would rather Trump win the 2024 nomination while 33 percent would rather someone else win. Another 12 percent didn’t know.

Republican and Republican-leaning Independents were also asked whom they preferred in a head-to-head primary match-up between Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. A plurality, 48 percent, preferred Trump while 34 percent preferred DeSantis.

Joe Biden’s job approval remains underwater in this new YouGov poll, with 52 percent disapproving of the president and only 40 percent approving.

The survey of 1,634 American adults was conducted between September 2 and September 6. It had a margin of error of 2.6 points.

In a similar YouGov poll from August, Biden also led Trump by 3 points in a hypothetical match-up, 42 percent to 39 percent.
