Former First Lady Melania Trump is “warning” Americans about the dangers of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
After the agency conducted a raid at the Mar-a-Lago resort she lives at with her husband, former President Donald Trump, in August of 2022 to search for classified documents, Melania is sounding off on the dangers of the government agency.
She posted a video on Saturday to the social media platform X to share her thoughts about the FBI. The video shows different images of the estate in Florida, and has text from the U.S. Constitution’s Fourth Amendment superimposed over it.
The Fourth Amendment is meant to protect citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government.
Melania can be heard in the video saying:
“I never imagined my privacy would be invaded by the government here in America. The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched through my personal belongings.
“This is not just my story. It serves as a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and rights must be respected.”
The statements that Melania made recently echo the concerns that her husband has previously shared about the actions the FBI has taken. He spoke with Newsweek a while ago about how the search had a “terrible” impact on his wife, saying:
“They go into her closet. They go through her dresses and who knows what else.”
Trump also alleged that some of the federal agents who were carrying out the raid did a “deep and ugly search” of his then 16-year-old son Barron’s room. At a rally in 2022, the former president said:
“(Agents left) everything they touched in far different conditions than it was when they started.”
Melania’s comments also come as she’s promoting her new memoir, aptly titled “Melania.”
In the past, she’s used other topics of controversy to promote the book. She shared a video that discussed the failed assassination attempt on her husband that took place at a rally in Pennsylvania in July.
She then urged people to “uncover the truth,” as the clip ended with information about when her book was being released.
The federal government targeted Trump for his alleged keeping of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort ever since he left the White House in early 2021.
The National Archives and Records Administration said they received some of Trump’s presidential records, but some of them were torn and then taped together again.
In February of 2022, NARA confirmed they received 15 boxes of records that were sent from Mar-a-Lago, and some of those boxes contained classified national security information.
That promoted the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, which at the time was led by Democrats, to start an investigation into the matter. The Department of Justice eventually became involved, which led to a grand jury subpoena, the August 2022 FBI raid and the eventual felony criminal charges that Trump is currently facing.
