For years, power and fashion icon couple Kanye West and Kim Kardashian would show up as best dressed and become the most talked about at the annual Met Gala fashion show in New York City. However, this year sees the famous Gala without the celebrity couple as one of the first in quite some time.
This year, Kim Kardashian still made headlines as she attended the 2024 Met Gala donning a tight corset designed by the famous French designer Maison Margiela. Although one thing was made clear by Kardashian’s attendance, that her former husband Kanye West was not alongside her, who in the past often used his attention-grabbing outfits to highlight Kim’s appearance.
It has been a while since Kanye West himself has attended the Met Gala, with his last appearance being in 2019 alongside his then-wife, where West humbly wore a $45 Dickies jacket. In 2020, the Met Gala was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2021, West also did not attend the show with Kardashian due to their ongoing divorce at the time. In 2022, Met Gala director Anna Wintour declared to never work with Kanye West again, nor invite him to any future galas due to his anti-semitic comments in the fall of that year. It seems as though Kanye West, who now just goes by Ye, won’t be attending any Met Gala shows anytime soon.
This year, West finds himself 3,000 miles away from the event. Kanye is currently residing in Los Angeles with his new wife, Bianca Censori, as West continues to pursue his fashion career and work on his latest upcoming album, Vultures 2. Censori, who is 29, bears a resemblance to Kardashian. Censori has also been known for her recent outfit choices around West, which have struck audiences with shock value due to the revealingness of the clothing. Kardashian’s appearance comes days after she attended the Roast of Tom Brady.
