World-famous superstar singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has canceled the U.S. leg of her This IS Me…Live tour. The devastating news to JLo fans came last Friday as the mega-ticketing company Live Nation announced the news, with a follow-up statement revealing that Lopez’s reasoning for canceling the summer tour was to take time off to spend with her children, friends, and family.
Lopez personally addressed the situation to her fans via her newsletter, On the Jlo where the If I Had Your Love singer stated that she was completely “heartsick and devastated” about letting her fans down following the tour cancellation. Lopez followed up her statement by letting her fans know that the singer would not have canceled the tour if it truly wasn’t necessary.
The new tour from Lopez comes just after the release of her ninth studio album, This Is Me…Now, an homage to her hit studio album, This Is Me…Then, which was released 20 years ago. This Is Me…Now is Lopez’s first studio album in five years, which was also accompanied by a feature-length film starring Lopez. The North American tour was announced on February 15th of this year but was later rebranded as the Greatest Hits tour due to low ticket sales, according to Variety. Live Nation stated to fans after the cancellation that all ticket purchases would be automatically refunded.
The North American tour was slated to begin in Orlando on June 26th of this year. The U.S. leg was scheduled for two months and was due to end in Houston, Texas in late August.
Not long before Lopez’s tour cancellation, rumors swirled that the state of Lopez’s marriage to her husband actor Ben Affleck had been crumbling. During a press conference last week for Lopez’s recent sci-fi film, Atlas, the singer seemingly shut down a question about her marriage rumors from a reporter. The couple have been married since July 2022.
