(PresidentialHill.com)- Last Monday, former President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was in Rochester, Minnesota visiting the Mayo Clinic for routine follow-up testing to make sure his previous thyroid cancer has not returned.
Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump were spotted by the Post Bulletin’s photojournalist Joe Ahlquist who took photos of the couple as they were out wandering the city Monday evening.
The couple allegedly dined in a local restaurant.
Kushner’s bout with thyroid cancer was unknown until last month.
In his upcoming memoir “Breaking History: A White House Memoir,” Kushner recounts learning from the White House physician of his cancer diagnosis while traveling to Texas aboard Air Force One to visit the opening of a Louis Vuitton factory in October 2019.
White House physician Sean Conley had pulled Kushner into the medical cabin and let him know that his test results from Walter Reed showed he had cancer and he would need to schedule surgery “right away.”
Kushner told Conley to keep it quiet even from Ivana and Trump out of fear that the news would cause issues with his role as an advisor to the president.
Kushner had surgery to remove the mass on his thyroid scheduled for the following month on the Friday before Thanksgiving so his absence from the White House might go unnoticed. He kept it quiet from everyone except Ivanka, former chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, and two other people.
But the day before his scheduled surgery, Trump called Kushner into the Oval Office and asked him if he was nervous about the surgery.
A stunned Kushner asked the president how he knew about it, and Trump said, “I’m the president. I know everything.”
A substantial portion of Kushner’s thyroid was removed during the operation and the biopsy confirmed it was cancer.
“Thank God we caught it early,” Kushner writes in his memoir.
