Illegal Migrant Arrested for Alleged Hit and Run Killing

The hit-and-run incident that killed the proprietor of a restaurant in Nashville has led to the arrest and prosecution of an illegal immigrant.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Mexican national Ulises Raigoz-Martinez is facing charges related to a hit-and-run that killed Matthew Carney, a restaurant owner. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Raigoz-Martinez is facing charges related to Carney’s death, including criminal murder and evidence tampering.

Raigoz-Martinez (24), an accused car thief who led cops on a high-speed pursuit in Williamson County, was sought by authorities on July 11. Even though two people in the stolen car were caught, Raigoz-Martinez managed to get away. Raigoz-Martinez’s criminal record is lengthy. According to reports, at a preliminary hearing on March 6th, Judge Tim Todd dismissed the three counts.

The US Immigration reported that after his arrest in Davidson County, Tennessee, on July 19 for murder, car theft, and fleeing arrest, ERO New Orleans lodged an immigration detainer on Raigoz-Martinez, a Mexican citizen here illegally, without proper documentation or permission from an immigration official.  He entered the US on a date and place that are now unknown.

Raigoz-Martinez is still the subject of continuing investigations, according to the Nashville Police Department.

Meanwhile, six Democrats from the US House of Representatives supported a motion on July 25th condemning the Biden administration and Vice President Harris for ineffective border security.

House Resolution 1371, presented by New York Republican Elise Stefanik, publicly denounced the immigration policies of Border Czar Harris, who Biden appointed to minimize illegal immigration in the early days of his presidency. Six Democrats joined 214 Republicans with their backing of the measure, while 196 Democrats voted against it. The House then approved the resolution.

In her speech, Stefanik emphasized Harris’ failure to protect the US borders. Stefanik criticized Harris for serving as Joe Biden’s open border czar and stressed the need for elected lawmakers who are aware of the situation at the border and willing to take action to resolve it.
