(PresidentialHill.com)- Vice President Kamala Harris attempted to appear threatening and serious on Saturday, telling the Munich Security Conference that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his country would face “unprecedented” financial penalties if the expected invasion of Ukraine takes place.
Harris also predicted that European allies would be drawn closer to the United States if Russia took action and invaded Ukrainian territory, noting that the world is at a “decisive moment in history.”
Harris’ comments also came just one day after President Joe Biden predicted that Putin had already made his decision to invade Ukraine and that it may only be a matter of days away.
“Let me be clear, I can say with absolute certainty, if Russia further invades Ukraine the United States, together with our allies and partners, will impose significant and unprecedented economic costs,” Harris told the security conference.
Later that day, Harris also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and told him that the United States takes any threat to his country “seriously.”
Interesting. Kamala Harris has a real interest in the protection of Ukrainian borders, but doesn’t have much to say at all about the fact that over 2 million illegal aliens have been apprehended by border agents since Biden took office.
Zelenskyy called on Western leaders to begin taking “specific steps,” which appeared to be a reference to requests from Ukraine for both military and financial assistance to stop Russian troops invading the country and annexing the region in the same way they did in 2014 with Crimea.
However, those requests are not likely to be satisfied – at least right now. Last week, President Biden pledged that he would not “send American servicemen to fight in Ukraine.”
It looks like the Biden administration is going for financial sanctions instead of military confrontation.
