Following the announcement that Rory McIlroy and his wife, Erica Stoll, have done a reversal on their impending divorce, fans’ responses on social media were all over the place.
At the Palm Beach County Courthouse, Thomas Sasser, who is representing McIlroy, filed a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal on Tuesday afternoon.
The court’s judgment closed the case, so the 35-year-old golfer will have to begin the divorce procedure all over again if he wants to revisit it.
McIlroy informed the 36-year-old Stoll that he wished to end the marriage less than a month ago when she received documents at their Jupiter, Florida, home.
This occurred only two days before McIlroy played in the first round of the US Open at North Carolina’s Pinehurst No. 2.
In light of the latest news, many turned to social media to convey their bewilderment as well as their joy. Some predicted that the Irishman’s performance in the third major of the year would either be better or worse because of the announcement.
According to some, Rory McIlroy was picked to win the US Open because his concentration might have been better now that his divorce was called off.
Some said he wouldn’t even make the cut.
One person said the news had already made him a winner at the Open.
Rory was +9 after two rounds and would be returning home on Friday night.
The rumored romance between McIlroy and Amanda Balionis was also brought up in many responses.
Mcllroy was born to Rosie (McDonald) and Gerry McIlroy on May 4, 1989, in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland. He was his parents’ sole child. After finishing St. Patrick’s Primary, he continued his education at Sullivan Upper School.
His father taught him the game of golf when he was very young. A former scratch handicap player, Gerry McIlroy is an accomplished golfer in his own right.
