Tiger Woods, a prominent figure in the world of professional golf, has several responsibilities and commitments. A sports announcer recently wondered whether Woods is relying on painkillers to cope with them.
One golf announcer voiced the pretty intrusive question aloud, and the video has now gone viral.
Tiger Woods, who played in the 152nd British Open, could be seen strolling around the Scottish Royal Troon course in the footage. The announcer, Mark Roe, subsequently made remarks on the visual characteristics of Wood’s eyes. Even in Roe’s casual remark, he seemed to be implying that Woods was likely using a lot of pain medication.
The video was shared and quickly went viral on social media, where it was widely condemned as rude and inconsiderate.
It was widely assumed on social media that Roe was alluding to Woods’ usage of painkillers in relation to the ailments he had been fighting off. People suspected that the comment was a derogatory reference to Wood’s DUI arrest in 2017, during which drugs were discovered in his bloodstream.
One explanation for the sunken or abnormal appearance of Woods’ eyes could be sleep deprivation.
During an interview, Woods said that former President Donald Trump’s attempted assassination had a physical impact on him.
The friendship between the two men goes back well before Trump was president. In 2019, Trump also presented the golfer with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Woods explained to a media outlet that he wasn’t in the proper mindset, so he didn’t get much done during practice. Woods was on a flight to Scotland when the attempted assassination occurred. Woods said that he stayed up worrying and watching the news rather than sleeping during his flight and was so exhausted.
Trump seems to be popular among golfers. Jack Nicklaus previously gave Trump a ringing endorsement in 2020. For many, Nicklaus represents the pinnacle of golfing greatness. Jim Herman had already won the North Carolina Wyndham Championship a few months before. After winning the event, Herman said that Trump was his golfing inspiration. According to Herman, the former president is a regular golfing partner.
