Fox News Guest Erupts Over “Proof” Lacking In Reparations Push

(PresidentialHill.com)- This week, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voiced unanimous support for a report from the city-appointed reparations committee that recommended, among other things, paying $5 million to every eligible black adult in the city, ABC News reported.

The committee proposed over 100 recommendations on how the city could atone for slavery and so-called “systemic racism.”

In addition to recommending the $5 million payments, the committee also recommended eliminating debt and tax burdens for eligible blacks, as well as guaranteeing an annual income of at least $97,000 for 250 years and offering black families homes in the city for only $1.

The Board of Supervisors expressed their support for the recommendations with some even suggesting that the city shouldn’t let the cost stand in the way of doing the right thing.

However, critics have blasted the recommendations as a fiscal impossibility. According to an estimate from the Hoover Institute, the cost to each non-black family in San Francisco would be at least $600,000.

Critics also argue that reparations payments in California make no sense since the state never had slavery.

Wednesday, in an interview on Fox News, Leo Terrell blasted the Board of Supervisors, noting that neither San Francisco nor the state of California ever had slavery.

Appearing on Fox’s “America’s Newsroom” with Dana Perino, Terrell, who is black, demanded to know why skin color should be treated as “evidence of reparation.” He said his skin color is not “proof of damages.”

Terrell argued that the city has done no “legal analysis” to determine whether or not such a proposal is even legal or constitutional. He argued that no evidence has been presented to prove that people living today are somehow harmed by events that happened 170 years ago.

Calling the proposal a “matter of political theater,” Terrell said he opposes reparations.
