(PresidentialHill.com)- A former Democratic mayor of Beaverton, Oregon, Dennis Doyle was caught possessing illegal child photos. He was sentenced to just six months in prison after pleading guilty to the charge, according to The Post Millennial. The charge was first given in March 2022.
Doyle was mayor from 2008 and 2020. The images of children under the age of twelve were reportedly dated November 2014 and December 205, while he was still in office.
The 73-year-old mayor has been ordered to pay $22,000 in restitution to his victims, according to a statement from the Department of Justice. He is also subject to five years of supervised release.
The DOJ stated that the Beaverton Police Department was first made aware of Doyle when in January 2022 by an employee of a local business. The employee reported that he had come across a USB containing exploitative and illegal images of children that belonged to the former mayor.
When the drive was handed over to the police and it was confirmed that the drive did contain illicit photos, personal photographs on the drive pointed to Doyle as its owner.
The FBI was referred to the case and Doyle was visited by special agents from the agency’s Portland Child Exploitation Task Force. He reportedly confessed immediately, saying that he had downloaded the images from his computer. No other images were found on other devices.
The news comes on the heels of another exploitative case where a gay couple in Georgia has been arrested and accused of abusing and “pimping out” their adopted children, according to The Daily Caller. Zachary and William Zulock were arrested in July after police in Oxford reportedly received a tip.
An investigation into the couple began shortly after, according to KKTV. Detectives said that they found evidence that the Zulocks had been abusing and filming having relations with their adopted children, who are two siblings.
