
Devin Harjes, best known for roles in Boardwalk Empire, Daredevil, and Gotham, has died at 41 after a short battle with cancer, leaving a deep void in the entertainment world.

A Career Built on Dedication and Passion
Born in Lubbock, Texas in 1983, Harjes began his screen journey in 2011 playing boxer Jack Dempsey in Boardwalk Empire. He later appeared in Blue Bloods, Manifest, and Orange Is the New Black. But his career wasn’t confined to TV—Harjes won Best Actor at the Tolentino International Film Festival for The Forest Is Red, and earned acclaim for Boyz of Summer.
Director Antonio DiFonzo paid tribute, writing on Facebook, “We will never forget you and your amazing part in The Boyz of Summer and our lives. Rest in peace, Lion Heart!”
More Than Just an Actor
Harjes was also a martial arts enthusiast, horseback rider, and animal lover. His childhood friend Annette Waggoner recalled: “Devin grew up riding with my boys… talented horseback and even more talented as an actor.”
His agent David Williams described him as “generous, kind, understanding and devoted to his family and friends.”
A Life Remembered
Harjes is survived by his parents, sister, and his beloved cat, Maude. His family encourages donations to TKC Blessings in his name, supporting children’s arts scholarships.
As filmmaker Debra Markowitz wrote: “Way too young. RIP Devin.”
