(PresidentialHill.com)- Following a recent string of embarrassing gaffes and awkward antics, a new survey reveals that the majority of Americans are concerned about President Biden’s mental health, leading many to question whether the 79-year-old should seek reelection in two years.
Fifty-nine percent of respondents to the Issues & Insights/TIPP survey, released on Monday, said they were “worried” about the president’s mental health. Thirty-six percent said they were “extremely concerned,” and 23 percent said they were “somewhat concerned.”
Only 39% of respondents indicated that they were either “not at all concerned” (21%) or “not very concerned” (18%) about Biden’s abilities.
Only 2% of respondents said they were “certain” about their degree of concern.
The survey’s findings revealed a significant party divide.
Only 39% of Biden’s fellow Democrats expressed concern in contrast to 82% of Republicans and 56% of Independents.
59% of respondents, including men and women, expressed concern about Biden’s mental health, with age and gender having essentially no bearing on respondents’ views.
39% of males and 38% of women expressed their lack of worry.
When the survey findings were broken down by race and ethnicity, it became clear that 61% of Hispanics and 63% of white Americans expressed concern about Biden’s mental health, and only 44% of black Americans did the same.
The editor of Issues & Insights, Terry Jones, stated that based on these polling results, there is genuine worry among practically all groups concerning Biden’s cognitive health. The upcoming 2022 midterm elections, which, if Republicans win, may convert Biden into a lame duck.
One thousand three hundred fifty-five persons countrywide participated in the online poll, which was conducted over two days in early August. Its margin of error is 2.8 percentage points in the surveys.
