Biden Claims Says ‘Most Important’ to ‘Defeat Trump’ in New Interview

Ever since President Joe Biden announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he would step out of the 2024 presidential race, it feels as though we haven’t heard from him very much. Sure, we got a big statement from the Oval Office in which he promised to do his very best to reform the United States Supreme Court, but we haven’t heard very much about why he decided to step down in the first place.

Many have speculated that the reason for his silence is the fact that he may not have wanted to step down in the first place, and that the entire plot was orchestrated by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. But in an interview that aired on Sunday, the president finally spoke out about what compelled him to leave the race.

In the CBS News Sunday Morning interview, Biden reminded viewers that he said in 2020 that he always saw himself as a “transition” president. It was a comment that he seemingly forgot during his time running for a second term as president, and one that he only now seems to have remembered after being ousted in favor of his vice president.

Throughout the interview, the president didn’t explicitly say that he didn’t believe he could beat former President Donald Trump – but he did heavily imply it. Biden commented on his age, stating that he “can’t even say” how old he is because it’s hard to “get it out of [his] mouth.”

Biden added that while it has been a “great honor” serving as president, he believes that he has an “obligation to the country” to step back.

“The most important thing you can do, and that is we must, we must, we must defeat Trump,” Biden said.

The question of whether the former president actually wanted to step down from the 2024 race remains up in the air. Senator Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, appeared to duck questions on CBS’ “Face the Nation” recently, when asked if he pressured the president to quit.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did the same during a CBS Sunday Morning interview, too. Rather than explicitly stating that she wasn’t behind the infamous X statement in which Biden announced his decision to step down, Pelosi told interviewers that she “did not call one person.”

It sounds like something is being covered up, doesn’t it?
